Thomas Foods International – Emergency Fire Response

4
MFS/Thomas Foods
Murray Bridge
January 2018

Royal Park Salvage received a 3am phone call from the Metropolitan Fire Service as they needed assistance with putting out a large fire at the meat processing facility. RPS had a member of management on site by 6am the same morning to assess the requirements. The size of the building required our high reach excavator to be mobilised. Within several hours, RPS had obtained an emergency permit and had 3 smaller excavators onsite to assist the MFS in putting out the fire. Once the fire was put out, RPS stayed on site to assist Thomas Foods in making the site safe and to remove the meat and animal carcasses burnt during the fire. Working very closely with the EPA, 650 tonnes of hazardous meat was transported to a nearby landfill to be buried.
